There is lots more music and entertainment  just a short walk from the Georgian in the Bandstand at  Shepard Park.  Coming up this week is Magical Musical Mondays – 7:00 PM ~ Live music, magicians, jugglers & bounce houses.  7:30 Wed – Free Concert! Brave Combo-America’s Premier Dance band – From Denton, Texas, this two-time Grammy Award winning band is a tex-Mex, rocking polka band which will take you on a rollicking journey.   On Friday 7 PM ~ “Blue Night” – Featuring the WINNER of the Capital Region Blues Network Showdown  Lake George Arts Project.

This is a great week with lots of events and attractions to help you enjoy your week.  On Wednesday – take advantage of the Lake George Association’s Floating Classroom.  Either 10AM-12 Noon or 1PM – 3PM.  This is a great lake science education program for kids and adults.  Reservations are required – call 518-668-3558 or register online – visit their website for more information.
This weekend Saturday at the Village Docks off Beach Road – Lake George Rendezvous Antique & Classic Boat Show 10AM-4PM.
Fort Ticonderoga has opened their Corn Maze – plenty to see at the Fort and this is great fun for kids!  Don’t miss the King’s Garden at the Fort – awesome!  Visit their website for more information.

Each week there will be a bounce inflatable plus arts and crafts.   It’s Travers Week ending with the running of the Traver Stakes on Saturday – Saratoga’s most anticipated event! Running of the $1 Million Travers, 1 1/4 mile run of 3 year olds. Games, rides and live music.  Entertainment Children’s, Midway Rides, Music 6PM every night.  Live Music Wed. 7:30PM Ramblin’ Jug Stompers.  This band carries on the great tradition of American String band music while winking directly at the classic jug bands of the 1960′s!   Lake George Arts Project.

Saratoga RacetrackStart on Thursday – August 2nd at the Track – Mid Summer St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.  Enjoy traditional Irish food and drink while taking in Irish music and dance from the Orange County AOH Pipe and Drums and the Boland School of Dance. Family Fun Fridays are held every Friday – lots of fun!  On Sunday August 5th enjoy a great Wine Event and take in the races – Galloping Grapes - A New York wine event at the Track! Come and sample some of New York’s best wines. Galloping Grapes is held in the backyard and tickets costs $10 in advance and $15 day of. Proceeds will help benefit the Times Union Hope Fund.

Summer is in full swing and The Lake George Area is brimming with events, entertainment and attractions – with something for everyone!  This weekend features the last weekend for the two week run of the Big Apple Circus.  Friday and Saturday there are shows at 3PM and 7PM then Sunday 11AM and 3PM.  For tickets visit the Big Apple Circus Website.   If you have kids and you’re coming to Lake George – you gotta go to the Six Flags Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom!  Discount tickets are available at the Georgian (just $36/person, available at the front desk).  This year the Great Escape opened their latest ride Alpine Freefall!  Awesome video, check it out…

Entertainment & Music

The Georgian offers the finest in local live music on the Patio and in Giovanna’s Restaurant.  This weekend entertainment begins on Thursday night with Spellbound on The Patio 5:30-9:30 with The Lake George Village Fireworks beginning at 9:30PMOn Friday we are again featuring Spellbound 5:00-9:00 PM with the J. It’s Circus Time in Lake George!

The Big Apple Circus is coming to town – this is the first weekend!  With performances under the big top Saturday 3PM and 7PM.  Get tickets right at the Chamber Office or online at Big Apple Circus.  The Circus is set-up in the old Gaslight Village property now call West Brook Park.  Need more information call the Lake George Chamber of Commerce 518-668-5575.

Outdoor Adventure near Lake George!

With 6.1 million acres, countless lakes and ponds, and hundreds of miles of hiking trails, wild rivers, and 46 mountain peaks over 4000 feet high – It is no wonder the Lake George and The Adirondacks offer some of the best Adventure activities in the East.  Adrenalin junkies to first time family groups will all find exciting outdoor adventure not far from Lake George and the Georgian Resort.

 

Whitewater!

Hudson River Whitewater RaftingTube a lazy river with the family or plunge down adventure class whitewater rapids.  Whitewater recreation is found on two rivers near Lake George – The Sacandaga River near Lake Luzerne, and The Upper Hudson River near Indian Lake and North Creek.  The Upper Hudson has some of the best adventure class whitewater in The East!  Check out the Georgian Resort Adventure Page for a list of outfitters and trips.

 

Canoe and Kayak

Canoe and Kayak adventures are also close at hand on Lake George and the nearby lower Hudson River.  Guests can rent kayaks and pedal boats right on the Georgian beach ($20 first hour, then $10/hr. after that).  Also check out Lake George Kayak Company for rental and trip information including the latest adventure craze – stand-up paddle boarding.  For canoe and kayak trips on the lower Hudson River – fast moving flat water – with a shuttle ride back contact Beaver Brook Outfitters.

 

Hiking

Lake George and The Adirondacks are famous for world class hiking adventures.  The mountains that ring Lake George offer spectacular summit views.  Choose from Buck Mt. or Black Mt on The east shore of the Lake, or nearby Crane Mt (The most interesting climb in The Southern Adirondacks – ladders, a summit pond and caves!).  For great trip info visit the Georgian website for Hiking Adventures near Lake George or The Adirondack Mountain Club for maps, photos and route descriptions.

Whitewater Challengers
A new Zip Line is in operation at Whitewater Challengers in North River – about 35 minutes from the Georgian near Gore Mt. and North Creek.  Whitewater Challengers also runs whitewater Rafting Trips on the Upper Hudson River.  Give them a call at 518-251-3746

 

Adirondack Hot Air Balloon FestivalUp Up and Away Adventures!

Wanna get up in the world?  There are a surprising number of great ways to get up in the air – some right over Lake George!  Start with Parasailing – being towed behind a speedboat – with a parachute – rising high over the water.  What a view of the lake, the village and the surrounding mountains.Try Parasailing Adventures – a short walk from the Georgian near Shoreline Cruises.

The Adirondack Balloon Festival is in the Fall – but you can enjoy the SunKiss Balloon Festival July 6, 7, & 8.  The Festival is at The Warren County Airport about 20 minutes from the Georgian.

Maybe just as high – but you come down on your own – Yikes – OK they give you a parachute.  Check out Sky Dive Saratoga – about 40 minutes from the Georgian toward Saratoga Springs.

When it’s 90+ degrees you just have to think of the lake and mountains!  Yeah, that’s Lake George and the Adirondack Mountains.  It is going to cool off somewhat for the weekend (80′s), but sunny and warm is clearly in the forecast.
