On Wednesday late in the afternoon while under a severe thunderstorm watch all day – a large cell hit the village of Lake George including the Georgian Resort. Numerous cars were damaged with broken windshields, rear windows and many dents – all from an intense thunderstorm with large hail. See the storm below. The Georgian also suffered roof damage to the Lobby Building and Giovanna’s On The Lake Restaurant. Repairs are underway and should be completed soon.
Alright you’re single (or not) and you would like to meet some singles in the area – well, the Wine Connection is just the thing for you!
Here’s how it works – register online here then come to Giovanna’s On The Lake restaurant at The Georgian Resort – Thursday, March 22. The Connection begins at 6PM so show up a little early. We will have a sampling of complimentary hors d’oeuvres and the bar will be open. When the connection begins – girls are seated on one side of a collection of tables and guys are on the other side. Our host will begin with some description of the wine and the tasting and your first “date” begins – but don’t dawdle – you only have a few minutes then the bell will ring and it’s off to your next date!
All participants will have a scorecard to rate (just yes or no) for each date. If your yes matches a yes from the same person about you – we have a connection and you will both be notified and given the other person’s contact information. You are of course welcome to make any connections you can during the event. Here’s the thing – IT’S FUN! If you are paired with someone you’re not thrilled with, just wait a minute and it’s on to the next date! Also, the wine is great and it gives you something to talk about if the conversation lags.
So – again register here or give us a call for more information 518-668-5401
Winter has been here for a few days (since the Winter Solstice on Dec. 22) but there is not a lot of winter like conditions to talk about. This has been a very warm Autumn with little snow and cold – the key ingredients for winter fun! However, the local ski areas are indeed open with machine made snow and impressive trail counts considering the weather. Gore Mt. has about 40% of their terrain open – 8 of 13 lifts and 23 of 95 trails. Pretty good considering there has been only a few inches natural snow. Nearby West Mt. opened yesterday, December 26th. Until there is additional snow, snowmobiling is on hold. Cross country skiers can venture out to a few trails open in the Lake Placid area, but local trails are still waiting for additional snowfall. So, the best sure bet for winter fun is probably the local alpine areas – Gore and West Mt. We have great packages for alpine skiing vacations and getaways for Gore – check them out.
And if winter already seems too long – get ready for our Girlfriend’s Getaway Weekend – an absolutely great time! Save the date January 20-22. Music by Groove Therapy. Looking further ahead – we are hosting a Spring Bridal Show and Expo on March 11, 2012. We are working on a great vendor list with a bridal fashion show, great giveaways and a grand prize drawing for a Georgian Vacation Package.
