Relive the defining moments in America’s history when nations fought to control a continent. Located within the shadow of the Adirondack Mountains and overlooking Vermont’s picturesque Green Mountains, Fort Ticonderoga guards the historic portage between Lake Champlain and Lake George. The French and their native allies failed to conquer this region during the French & Indian War. And a generation later, the British failed during the Revolutionary War. In the end, Americans controlled Lake Champlain, and therefore controlled the continent.

Each day in July and August, the Fife and Drum Corps play songs containing important information, known as “duty tunes.” From reveille in the morning to tattoo at night, or sounding of the alarm and calling to arms, the Fifes and Drums regulate days at the fort today.  New!  Corn Maze is open for the season!  It’s great fun!  Kids Love it!  Sat. This is the 100 mile view from the Prospect Mt. summit – Hike or Drive to the top!  This red-marked 1-5/8 mile trail leads to summit of Prospect Mountain. To reach the trail from Lake George Village, turn west on Montcalm Street (away from lake) to Smith Street; turn south 1/2 block to trail head sign. Trail crosses 1-87 on an elevated walkway. The climb to the summit is not difficult. One part of the trail follows the road bed of an old funicular railway that served a once-thriving summer hotel on the mountain. Remains of both the mountain and the railroad still exist.  Prospect is also home to the Veteran’s Memorial Highway ($10/car, 10AM – 6PM thru November 11, 2018, last ticket 6PM must leave by 6:45).  Map and trail guide for Prospect Mt.

Ghost Tours

The area surrounding Fort William Henry has been the scene for countless battles, terrible disease and harsh climate. With hundreds of years of history, there are bound to be some ghost stories. Join us for a tour of ghostly places. See first-hand, the equipment used by investigators in their quest to research paranormal activity. Hear the stories that have been handed down over the years, as well as the personal experiences of those leading the tour. Reservations are required tours. Space is Limited.
